FL Funds Statewide Residency Program

It's not all gloomy news for healthcare in the Sunshine State. The governor has earmarked $20.6 million in state funds that when coupled with existing Medicaid funds, will provide $80 million in supplemental funding to create a Statewide Medicaid Residency Program.

In order to address the issue of primary care provider shortage and improve access-to-care for all Floridians especially in underserved areas, Florida must update its archaic nursing laws and remove practice barriers and expand the scope of practice of nurse practitioners (ARNP) that will allow them to practice to the full extent of their advanced education and training.
