Medicare Rates Face Predictable Cuts in 2013

The Medicare Payment Advisory Commission will likely recommend to Congress an increase in inpatient and outpatient payments to hospitals of 1% in fiscal year 2013. No matter how you slice it, that's a rate cut.

Do you really think employers (via commercial insurers) are willing to continue bearing the cost shift from Medicare & Medicaid?? Where have you been? Loews is sending all of their cardiac cases to the Cleveland Clinic, Pepsi is sending their orthopedic cases to Johns Hopkins, etc, etc. Employers are dodging the cost shift on their own....letting their feet do the talking.
