Here's another story of nurses who went out of their way to give patients an excellent experience: This past summer, Anne Arundel Medical Center (AAMC) in Parole, MD, underwent a series of renovations. To shield patients from construction activity, the hospital covered the windows with a light-blocking film. Guess what? That made for gloomy rooms. So Mary Cohn and Annette Bargmann, nurses with an artistic streak, marched into patient rooms armed with paint, decorating the film-covered windows. Most marketers will tell you that they don't want anything to cast a shadow over their advertising, but MetroWest Medical Center embraced shadows and made them the focal point of its latest integrated marketing campaign. The 424-bed health system, based in Framingham, MA, launched the campaign to promote that it began providing comprehensive expert pediatric care in July, thanks to partnering with physicians from Floating Hospital for Children at Tufts Medical Center in Boston.
