I still wish my husband and I could take back the decision to purchase that 1986 Oldsmobile. Its transmission died a month after we bought it, so it ended up sitting in our driveway with grass growing up around the tires. While that decision dinged our pocket book and was a major inconvenience, it was still just a car. Healthcare among few bright spots in U.S. employment picture
Given the reports about healthcare organization's mass lay offs during the past several months, I was a little surprised to discover that the healthcare industry actually had a net gain of 419,000 jobs in 2008. Overall, 2.6 million jobs were lost in the United States last year. Healthcare's projected job growth continues to remain strong through 2016, as well, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics. Report: CEO confidence at all-time low
CEO confidence in the U.S. economy hit an all-time low, according to The Conference Board's latest quarterly report. Only 24 of the 100 business leaders surveyed felt confident about the current economic situation in the fourth quarter of 2008—marking the lowest level since The Conference Board began the survey in the second quarter of 1976. The last time confidence dipped below 30 was the second quarter of 1980 when it hit 29. [Read More]
