Technology improvements key to healthcare reform

Pittsburgh Business Times, January 19, 2010

Healthcare reform is not possible without major improvements in how information is accessed, stored, and moved, said Randy Spratt, CTO/CIO at McKesson Corp during a meeting of the Pittsburgh Technology Council. Spratt added that he has never been more hopeful that such changes will happen, thanks in part to the $23 billion in federal funds that became available last year to help doctors and hospitals adopt electronic medical record systems, reports the Pittsburgh Business Times.
