Board for Dallas-based Parkland defends executive bonuses, OKs $226,670 incentive

Dallas Morning News, January 27, 2010

The board of managers for Dallas-based Parkland Memorial Hospital began its monthly meeting this week by strongly endorsing the $1.7 million in "incentive pay" it handed out to 27 top executives at the end of December. Some employees who received only 2%-3% in merit increases last year were unhappy to hear last week that their bosses had gotten 19%-31% in extra pay, the Dallas Morning News reports. The hospital rewarded its top executives with end-of-the-year payments ranging from $34,727 to $143,325. The amount was tied to their salaries and to how well they had attained certain goals, such as reducing waiting times in the emergency room.
