Washington Post, March 15, 2010

In this article published online by the Washington Post, Manoj Jain, an infectious-disease specialist and an adjunct assistant professor at the Rollins School of Public Health at Emory University in Atlanta, makes the case for bundled payments. Jain notes that insurance companies and Medicare pay separately for each procedure in the predominant "fee-for-service" model, which she calls a "design flaw" of our healthcare system that is one of the reasons for spiraling healthcare costs.
