Hospitals big loser in Georgia governor's budget

Atlanta Journal-Constitution, March 12, 2010

Hospitals would face hundreds of millions in new fees and taxes under Georgia Gov. Sonny Perdue's revised budget plan. Perdue finds $244 million in new revenue through fee increases and by taking away the sales tax exemption that nonprofit hospitals enjoy for purchases, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports. The governor also said he would reduce the rate by which hospitals and doctors are reimbursed for treating Medicaid patients by 10.25%.
