A Path to Eliminating $3.6 Trillion in Wasteful Healthcare Spending

Thomson Reuters, July 13, 2010

Last year, Thomson Reuters published a report concluding that the U.S. healthcare system wastes $700 billion annually. We now follow with a paper describing a path for reducing that waste. It details five strategies, six targets for waste reduction, and examples of organizations that are leading the way to potentially save more than $3 trillion. We hope this paper contributes to the ongoing dialogue about healthcare costs, encouraging more debate and a call to action as reform legislation is implemented.
