Catholic Health Partners venture aims to cut health costs in OH

Cincinnati Business Courier, September 5, 2013
Catholic Health Partners, the Cincinnati-based nonprofit whose holdings include six Mercy Health hospitals, announced Wednesday it has joined three major upstate health systems in forming a collaborative designed to lower health care costs and improve the health of Ohioans. Part of that will involve selling health insurance. "We are working together on common insurance products," said Michael Connelly, president and CEO of Catholic Health Partners. Friday's print edition of the Cincinnati Business Courier will provide an in-depth look at CHP's plan to enter the insurance business. Its goal is to change the health care payment system and improve patient care.
