Driver: The public hospital reviews all contracts every five years, and its previous outsourcing deal with Perot expired.
Number Vendors Considered: Distributed 12 RFPs; evaluated four proposals.
Finalists: InfoCrossing (runner-up), EDS, and BPoms.
Evaluation Tools: A weighted evaluation matrix that included cost, technical approach, management, experience, and organization’s financial strength, recalls Jack Kowitt, senior vice president and chief information officer.
Why ACS Won: A combination of cost, healthcare experience, and application know-how, says Kowitt, who led the seven-member selection team.
Deployment: Under way now, with completion set for end of summer.
