Community at odds on how to save Brooklyn’s hospitals

The New York Times, October 27, 2011
Many Brooklyn hospitals, including Brooklyn Hospital Center in Fort Greene, are in a financial crisis. That's about all Brooklyn residents, community leaders, and a state-appointed committee charged with making recommendations for solutions can agree on. That was made clear at Governor Cuomo's Medicaid Redesign Team Brooklyn Working Group meeting, held at MetroTech on Wednesday, Oct. 19, where about twenty Brooklynites, hospital administrators, and community health activists voiced their opinions on the best way to ensure a stable future for Brooklyn's hospitals. Each attendee had four minutes to lay out their plans, but by the end of the session, no concrete proposals had emerged to save Brooklyn's hospitals.
