Compensation growth slows down for cardiologists

Despite being one of the most sought-after specialties, cardiologists in group practices experienced a decrease in compensation last year, according to the 2007 MGMA Physician Compensation and Production Survey, which is based on 2006 data. Although the specialty has seen a few years of steady growth, last year's compensation slowdown may be a sign of things to come if reimbursement cuts and rising costs continue to hinder cardiology practices.
