High blood pressure increases costs under capitation
Uncontrolled high blood pressure (HBP), or hypertension, is a major risk factor for adverse health outcomes. Although the condition is easily treated, control levels are poor in the working-age, commercial population. For capitated providers, the costs of uncontrolled HBP can be high, due more to general health problems than to catastrophic health events.
