Survey: Turmoil between hospitals, physicians

With more physicians drifting away from hospitals to become owners of specialty outpatient facilities, hospitals are struggling not only to compete, but also to keep their emergency departments (ED) staffed with enough physicians to meet patient demand, according to survey results released by the Center for Studying Health System Change (HSC). Forty-six percent of hospital and health system CEOs identified various aspects of physician relations as among the top three pressures their hospitals fare, according to the survey.
