Congressional spotlight shines on NIH researcher conflicts of interest

Disciplinary decisions and researcher misconduct at the National Institutes of Health took center stage during a congressional hearing earlier this week, The Baltimore Sun reported. One senior researcher, Thomas J. Walsh, MD, entered into dozens of unauthorized private arrangements with drug companies and failed to report an annual outside income totaling more than $100,000, The Sun reported a confidential internal NIH review as finding.
