Florida hospitals share lessons learned from hurricanes

Six steps to improve your hospital’s disaster preparedness plan The Florida Hospital Association (FHA) recently released the results of a survey of 265 Florida hospitals that determined the effect the 2004 hurricanes had on its facilities and assessed the lessons hospitals learned. Approximately 35% of the Florida hospitals surveyed responded to the association’s sur- veys. Florida hospitals learned the following lessons while facing these natural disasters. These lessons should be kept in mind by hospital leaders across the country when forming their own disaster plans
