More physicians opting out of Medicare, but data limited

The federal government has long been worried about the possibility that large numbers of physicians will opt out of Medicare, so it conducted a study to determine just how many are leaving or planning to leave. The researchers found that the number of physicians opting out has been increasing for years, but the data they had access to was so limited thatthey could not reach any firm conclusions about the rate.
