A new trend in governance is taking place online
by Corey Christman
A small but steadily growing number of healthcare organizations are turning to the Internet to communicate not only with the public and employees but with board members as well.
Some, like Bellevue (NE) Medical Center (BMC), choose to develop specific portals where the board can chat with one another through forums and store pertinent information and documents. Others, like New England Sinai Hospital in Stoughton, MA, have taken Web development into their own hands and built sites that act as portals, allowing senior executives to use blogs to communicate with board members about new endeavors and problems.
