New technologies may spur earlier detection, but obstacles remain

"At the moment, it's just a notion, but with a bit of backing, I think I could turn it into a concept, and then an idea."

This line is a creation of Woody Allen, but for a long time, it could have described the progress being made in the realm of "medical-dental" integration. Under such a model, dentists would practice in a way that would cut down on future medical care. The patients would enjoy greater health, and the payers-particularly cross-platform companies-would prosper through reduced claims costs.
