Tulsa healthcare sector provides massive economic impact

Tulsa World, February 3, 2014
Health care accounts for more than 64,000 direct jobs in the Tulsa region, which encompasses 11 counties, for a direct total economic impact of $3.8 billion. Factor in the multiplier effect and other jobs that are added as a result of that sector, and health care exerts a $7.3 billion economic impact on the area, according to the Tulsa Regional Chamber. Health care also supports $240 million in local tax collection. Large metros are economic hubs for health care, industry officials say, by offering a range of services that include specialty and trauma care.
