LSU health head works at '80 percent'

The Advocate / Capital City Press, November 5, 2012

As part of a plan to dismantle the public hospital system as it exists today and altering their role in training the state's future physicians, Dr. Frank Opelka became the LSU System executive vice president for healthcare and medical education redesign in August. LSU documents show that Opelka is making $409,000 annually for "80 percent effort". This arrangement allows him to do other work for compensation outside LSU employment.
