Vanderbilt Children's Hospital to build $30 million addition

The Tennessean, May 28, 2010

Nashville-based Vanderbilt University plans to build a 30,000-square-foot addition to its Monroe Carell Jr. Children's Hospital, marking the medical center's first expansion project since an economic downturn put a stop to all new construction. Faced with the recession, the university was forced to delay plans in 2008 to break ground on an eight-story, 340,000-square-foot annex. But finances began to look more promising for Vanderbilt in January, paving the way for the children's hospital project to move forward with the smaller addition first and the annex later, The Tennessean reports.
