Official questions auditors' silence on Jackson Health System

Miami Herald, May 13, 2010

While two Miami-based Jackson Health System consulting contracts are now the focus of investigations, the treasurer of Miami-Dade's public health system is publicly questioning whether auditors Ernst & Young are afraid to answer questions about a disputed $50 million charge because of two other investigations. The two investigations include a Miami-Dade grand jury looking at charges of "gross mismanagement" of Jackson and a Securities and Exchange Commission investigation into whether the hospital misstated its finances in advance of an $83 million bond sale last September.
