Goldman official invests $20 million in NYC-based Mount Sinai Medical Center

Wall Street Journal, May 7, 2010
Richard Friedman, head of Goldman Sachs' merchant banking division, and his wife, Susan are giving $20 million to New York City-based Mount Sinai Medical Center to create the Friedman Brain Institute, an interdisciplinary center that studies the brain and nervous system. Mount Sinai will use the Friedman gift to raise an additional $50 million and reach the Medical Center's $100 million fund-raising goal. Part of the gift will allow the center to recruit 20 to 25 additional neuroscientists and expand its scientific and clinical research in areas such as Alzheimer's disease, schizophrenia, depression, and autism spectrum disorders.
