Downturn adds a wrinkle to cosmetic procedures

The total number of surgical and less-invasive cosmetic procedures performed in 2008 inched up 3% to 12 million from the prior year, according to figures released by the American Society of Plastic Surgeons. But the $10.3 billion in revenue generated by those procedures represented a 9% decline from 2007, according to the group, which is the world's largest organization of board-certified plastic surgeons.
